No — not for money. The Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025 (in force 1 May 2026) bans all online money games across India, including rummy played for stakes, whether skill-based or not. What is the difference between 13-card and 21-card rummy?
13-card rummy is the standard Indian variant: 2–6 players, 13 cards each, and you must declare with at least one pure sequence. 21-card rummy uses 21 cards per player, extra decks and jokers, and needs at least three pure sequences. Our rules pages compare them side by side.
Which rummy variant is best for beginners?
Start with 13-card points rummy: one deal, simple scoring, fastest to learn. Move to deals or pool formats once sequences, sets and joker use feel natural.
